Your responsibilities as a Geospatial Data Engineer:
As a Geospatial Data Engineer at Eoliann, you will play a crucial role in leveraging your expertise in handling large pipelines of geospatial data. Your primary focus will be designing, implementing and maintaining systems that store and make data accessible for training, inference and serving climate risk assessments.
The position will be responsible for:
- Deal with large geospatial datasets, producing them and making them accessible to internal and external users.
- Collaborate with researchers and data scientists in a cross-functional team, helping to work with complex data structures on the cloud.
- Deploy and maintain internal services, allowing for effective and efficient computing of new signals.
- Help the team write high-quality code, frequently working in pairs, following best practices and defining our own.
- Be actively involved in fostering and nurturing our collective knowledge specific to your domain (mentoring, workshops, lectures).
Must Have:
- 4+ years of software development experience (CI/CD, testing, containerized development), with a focus on cloud development.
- Proficiency in geospatial data storing, handling and warehousing, using for example STAC, PostGIS, and S3.
- Experience in handling geospatial data across different services: using AWS Glue and Athena, AWS EMR, or similar experience with other cloud providers.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with the relevant file formats for both raster (GeoTiff, COG, NetCDF, HDF) and vectorial data (GeoJSON, GeoPackage, (Geo)Parquet, FlatGeobuf)
- Proficiency in Python
- Familiarity with Infrastructure As Code (IaC)

- Competitive salary. Each team member plays a key role in making Eoliann grow. Our compensation package is highly competitive, and can grow rapidly, depending on your performance and seniority. For this position we defined a salary range between 45.000€ and 55.000€ but it’s not fixed in stone so if you think you deserve more, apply anyway!
